This actually might be the selling point for my wife. Stuff takes forever to cook, although I recently heard a trick where you can soak the oats in water in the fridge overnight, and cook in the morning in five minutes. Haven't tried it yet.

I keep wanting to bite on this, but I know my wife would kill me if I ordered a $300 rice cooker. I'm thinking you're paying $100 for the induction technology and the stainless steel. This probably helps it cook a little quicker, but do you see any other advantage?
Besides the fact that it makes delectable, light, fluffy, luscious, ambrosial, succulent, delightful, and exquisite rice? Not really. Oh yes, one more: using it is easier than resting on the couch.

Have you ever cooked sticky rice on a consistent basis by hand before? It takes mad skillz AND mad time.
Plus mine plays neat little MIDI tunes when I start it and when cooking is done.
Awesomeness now has a name. Let me introduce myself.
niku and levin--i get the advantage to the cooker (sort of). I'm talking the difference between the Lebowski version and yours, i.e. the induction technology and stainless steel.

What kind of fuzzy logic led you to that conclusion?
Induction.

Ah, hell, I dunno. Lebowski's wasn't at the store I got mine from? His cost more? Mine's white? I really can't say. I'm sure JL can tell you more.
You will notice we both went with Zojirushi. No Japan RM would think of anything else.

I just read a bunch of reviews and concluded that I wanted the induction model. No regrets.

How come nik's says "Fuzzy" on it and the description mentions fuzzy logic, yet yours doesn't seem to make any mention of the fuzzy logic?
Have you been trying to big time everyone here all these months with your closeout model Zojirushi?
Fuzzy logic is sooo 1990's. It's all about "micro computer" technology now, baby. Read the specs. There is a miniature Cray YMP supercomputer embedded in every model.

Come on, doc.....you live in St. George.....you can be the first to own one and then have everyone in town ask you about it.......Christiansen's will start carrying them for $400 each.....people will register for them.....they'll have zojirushi parties where people can talk about the different models and why they like theirs over a different one. Your stock in the ward will rise. Your wife will feel hip amongst all the diamond-ring-comparison partygoers. Someone will casually work their purchase of one into their testimony on fast sunday.
And people will use them about once a year. And then they'll move on to something else that everyone will have to have.
If the thing will cook brown rice and steel cut oatmeal well, I think I might ask my mom for one for Christmas. Our rice cooker is a black and decker, and it does ok, but it doesn't do basmati very well. the grains come out mealy sometimes.
For the record, my favorite rice is Nishiki.
