  • Fried Chicken recipes

Not to rain on the recent CUF health parade (of which I am fully supportive, btw), but I was wondering if any of you have personal fave recipes for homemade fried chicken?

Been having a hankering for some lately but I don't love much of the fast food variety.

Also, on a somewhat related note, has anyone else noted that the price of chicken seems to have dropped drastically lately? It is around $1.50/lb in our grocery stores now. Dirt cheap.

The trick is getting oil temperature right. Lots of people use an oil with a higher smoke point so they can get the oil hot without burning. Cast iron pans seem to be used often in the absence of a deep fryer. Also, try soaking in buttermilk.

This type of communist trash has no place on CUF. Beef is the only true meat. Chicken should be considered only as a side dish.

Do you like Alton Brown? If so, he has a good fried chicken recipe and he demonstrates how to make it on his show Good Eats. I've tried it, and I like it. My wife, who has an extreme aversion to all things fried has tried it and she likes it.

here are a couple of links to the show I'm talking about, you can find the recipe on the foodnetwork website.

I made his guacamole the other night....it was also very good.

His hummus, while not "hummus" in the original definition, is still pretty good.
