How insensitive, I was honestly feeling bad for DDD. You know I wouldn't joke about food.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Is the Wild Grape any good? Gidget's brother has moved on from the Copper Onion and is now there.

Yes. It is a fun place to eat. And I am glad to hear this latest news because it was his presence at Copper Onion that has prevented me from weighing in on that place. It got boring fast, the menu is pretty boring, doesnt change much, and they do about 3 things well. The rest is average.

My wife and I are going to spend this Friday night downtown, and I need to pick the dinner location. I haven't eaten at Bambara so I was going to choose that. Looks like I should also consider Forage. Other suggestions?

No worries. I think it was a good thing that my brother-in-law moved on. He'd been there since the opening. Plus now he gets to hone his skills under another chef and add experience.

I would like to try both of those sometime.

Tonight, I went to Market Street for the first time in years.

                  I was disappointed.

I went a couple of years ago and was disappointed. Unless someone is buying for me, I won't be going back.

I've been wanting to try Wild Grape. I've only been to the Copper Onion once. I went for brunch and did really like it. That is disappointing to hear that they don't change things up and don't really do many things well.

+1, this is my favorite place to eat. Best sushi I've had in Utah.

Same. We went several months ago and the food was nothing like I remembered. It's not really on our list anymore either.

So I don't like to do anything that encourages UteStar's participation on this board, but this thread seems like a decent place to make ongoing commentary on SLC restaurants.

We ate at Pallet last week.

It was ok, not great. Cool space, though. Typical new american fare but worth checking out once for date night. Lunch might be interesting, as well.

I had lunch at Pallet a couple weeks ago, and I agree. Good looking place, and the menu items sounded good, but the execution wasn't what I was hoping for. I did like the truffle fries. My main course was unremarkable enough that right now I can't even remember exactly what it was. I think it might have been a pulled pork sandwich. I do remember that the stoneground mustard obliterated any other flavor.

The gnocchi was very bland. It is really hard to find good gnocchi, so I guess it isn't unique to Pallet. They need to figure out what they want to be and then focus on that.
