  • Pizzeria Limone

SLC folks should check out this place that just opened last week in Cottonwood Heights (by Paradise Bakery):

    http://www.yelp.com/biz/pizzeria-lim...onwood-heights

You stand in line to order and they make and then bake your pizza in front of you while you watch. Kind of fun and the pizza was good and not too caloric -- a lot of vegetarian selections.

I wasn't overwhelmed, but I'm going to try it again. I like the concept, and I liked the ingredients. However, my pizza was burned, and looking at the pizzas around me, that wasn't unusual. Maybe they're still trying to get the timing on the oven down.

Yeah I noticed that, too. Ours were OK, but some were coming out a little overcooked.

They are definitely still working out the kinks and teaching the employees how to do things. Hopefully things will be running a little more smoothly in a few weeks.

        Re: Pizzeria Limone

Tried it tonight. It was ok. All three pizzas we ordered were burned so they apparently haven't gotten that figured out. The marinara was almost sickly sweet. They had tons of customers though so it seems other people don't care or notice.

I'd take a flat bread pizza from Cous Cous on 9th East any time over these (Mediterranean joint not far away from Pizzeria Limone). Similar prices and loads more flavor.

Man, that makes me miss Utah. We lived right there next to that place. We'd hit up Paradise Bakery regularly.

My sister in law and bro in law love this place. Never been yet.

There's a place in CA called Pieology that is same format and we enjoy eating there...

I've come around on this place. Tried it again a couple months ago and like it enough that I've been several times since. They appear to have figured out the oven times, at least at the Ft Union and 4th South locations.

My favorites are the Limone with thin lemon slices and the Viola with prosciutto and blackberries.

And I'm a sucker for the chocolate lemon brownies.

We like it. We probably go there for take-out every 6 weeks or so. My wife likes the Pera and I usually get the one with fennel sausage. The lemon gelato is pretty good.

We know the owners. Glad it has been working out for them. We really need to try it out.

A place like this just popped up near my house. We've been once and, unfortunately, our experience involved some very burned spots on our pizzas. Perhaps that's something they'll work out over time. Even with the burned spots, the pies were delicious. However, trying to convince my kids to look past the burned spots was pretty much futile.

A good pizza is supposed to have some char.

I agree, but there is a difference between having some char and being burned.

Yep. When every single dough bubble on top is burned black (and has collapsed and left a volcanic cavity) that's not just char.

This makes me laugh. I've taken my kids to good pizza places and it's a waste of time, money and energy. They'd rather be eating a $5 Little Caesars pizza.
