  • Mountain West Burrito

If you live in utah county (or when you visit), and are a fan of good food, check out Mountain West Burrito. While the name is iffy at best, the food is good. All local and fresh/organic. One of the better steak burritos I've had.

It's off of state street about halfway (?) up the hill between provo and orem. Unassuming on the outside, all awesomeness inside.

Always looking for a good burrito.

what was the name of that burrito place in the same vicinity that sold a massive burrito? They also had a big picture of Steve Young holding the burrito? I think it was called the Monster Burrito. The place wasn't very good but I remember it being fairly pop. I wonder what happened to it.

Not sure, but if you are into pics of famous people holding burritos (not in a former-New-York-congressman kind of way) then this place has a sweet poster of the classic Scarface scene. Except that his 'little friend' is a not-so-little Mountain West Burrito. I think that one, and a similarly-themed print from Pulp Fiction, honestly made my burrito taste better.

I did a google search for the pic that is in my mind but to no avail.

I did learn that a 60s musician named Steve Young recorded an album with a member of the Flying Burrito Brothers, though. It is an interesting article and a pretty quick read.

I was looking at the local results for Yelp the other day and noticed a lot of good buzz about Mountain West Burrito so I checked it out. Simple menu but excellent burritos. Definitely worth a visit for lunch.

I'll add in a good word. I tried it out about a month ago. It's seriously tasty, the prices are good, and they made up my to-go order in less than five minutes despite the place being totally packed. The owner/guy in the interview DDD posted seemed a genuinely kind soul. Definitely another place worth checking out if you need a fast, delicious lunch.

If he changes the name to Independant Burrito, I'll try it.

Okay, I'm wanting to try this place out when in Utah this summer. What is the Orem-Provo mall?

                    I loved this part:

Interviewer: Too bad you had to move from Santa Barbara to Provo.

Mtn West Burrito guy: I love Provo, it's great. Lots to do.

Interviewer: Yeah, Provo's a great place.
                    Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I was just in SB this past weekend because my niece graduated from UCSB. The campus is literally adjacent to the beach.

Yeah, I'd say too bad he had to move to Provo.

I'm going to try this burrito place, too. This weekend.

It was never about comparing SB to Provo. At least for me is wasn't.

I'll look forward to your report.

There are places on this planet cooler than Provo? Really?

Do you think they will be changing to Independent Burrito or West Coast Burrito soon?

update: the owner of Mountain West Burrito is leaving, going back to Cali and then to Mexico. It appears he sold the place to the Heirloom Restaurant Group (P712 and Communal) who will keep it running as usual, with the same crew.
