In light of our HUGE tax return windfall, my wife and I are in the market for a propane grill. (Yes, unlike niku, Triplet, PAC, and other lawyers on the board, my income is meager enough that I still get a tax return. /digression). I've spent the last 3 summers without the ability to grill in my own backyard, and I won't spend a fourth the same way.
While shopping at Wal-Mart this past weekend, I was smitten by the reasonable price, good looks, and apparent functionality of this Brinkmann.
However, I withheld from purchasing until I had a chance to look it up online, and I'm glad I did, as reviews detailing explosions, melting knobs, and porcelain shards in food are all too common with this brand.
I've heard great things about how Weber grills evenly cook food, but they are pretty pricey in comparison to other brands. (e.g. a comparably equipped Charbroil grill is about half as much as the most basic Weber grill, which runs about $350). Is the Weber such a good product that it is worth the extra money?
In short, I'm looking for suggestions on reasonably-priced gas grills. Please keep in mind that this is not our "forever home," as they say, so expensive built-in grills aren't really an option. While I someday hope to drive the Cadillac of grills, that day is still a ways off. We're looking for something in the $400 and under range, but under $300 would be preferable. (Translation: I am looking for the best grill I can get, but Mrs. Donut probably won't let me spend more than $400, and will be much happier if we end up spending closer to $300).
