  • Food & Wine names...In-N-Out best burger in the US?

Not just the best chain burger or fast food burger, but the best burger.

I'm an In-N-out fan. Not one of those peevish Utahns who resent it for its association with California and pretend not to like it for that reason.

But calling it the best in the country - when you're putting it up against the finest specialty burgers of from NY to SF and across the heartland - wld suggest that either (a) you're not very serious / or are very lazy about your rankings or (b) that In-N-Out's doing something pretty crafty with its marketing dollars.

Do these people exist? Check out the long lines at every In n Out in Utah.

This tangent should go in the Utah pet peeve thread.

Whoever Food and Wine is...they don't know burgers.

Almost every other burger on that list at least looks better than the In N Out offering.

This maybe and probably is heresy, but I haven't been that impressed with in-n-out. Granted I have only been to the one in Centerville.

I may be small, but I'm slow.

You're not alone in your opinion. I think the burger is okay and the fries are awful. In any event, even if you're In-n-Out's biggest supporter, there's no way you can say it's the best burger in the country.
            Not that, sickos.

I wonder factors their ranking was based upon. Cost-wise, In-N-Out is a good burger for your buck. I can think of many places in Utah alone that make a better burger, though.

                Sort of bizarre.

Another one of those resentful Utahns....

Did I miss something? It looks like it names it one of the best burgers in California, not the U.S. (they also name a burger in S.F.).

Looks like you're right when you read their article - I shouldn't trust the people at Newser.com which is where I picked up the lead

                      http://www.newser.com/story/113801/a...the-us-is.html

But even to say it's the best in CA is ludicrous.....

They've never had a burger at the Slow Club in SF or at the Auburn Brewery in... Auburn. To name two off the top.

Uh...there are burgers from NY and SF on there. And I don't see any rankings, just some of their favorite burgers across the country. And like most lists that food mags do, they include a variety of price points, styles and levels of accessibility.

I hope you didn't pay more than half price, since you can only appreciate half of the content.

I would say the wine makes up about a 1/4 of the content. Though yes, I got it half off from a friend's little bro who was selling mags for a school fundraiser.
