  • Chuy's in Austin

This was one of the suggestions on El Duderino's list for visiting Austin, although he said it wasn't his favorite. My wife and I went there last night after we spent the day in San Antonio and got the kids to bed. It was fantastic. I do not know the intricacies of Mexican vs. Tex-Mex, but this was delicious. In fact we are thinking about going back tomorrow.

Thanks for the tip JL. We were going to go to Salt Lick, but we went to some other BBQ place my in-laws like close to their home on Friday and didn't feel like BBQ 2 nights in a row.

    Cool.

Don't forget to pick up plenty of Longhorn gear.

If you are hanging out in Austin, you can't complain too much about your trip to Texas.

You should talk them into a night on Sixth Street visiting the live music clubs.

I never really thought Chuy tex mex was amazing, but it is good.

      I like buying Chuy t-shirts, though. I have 2.

the one in Austin is the one where the Bush twins got busted for phony IDs, so you just sampled a place of history.

I bought one with a Twister design on the back (colored dots) and one with the Kool Aid Man on the front that says "Chuy Aid"

If you do pick up a hankerin for some more Q before you go, Rudy's is pretty good. I was in Austin last fall and saw a T-sips practice, they were ranked #1 at the time. Everyone on that campus wears burnt orange in everything from plaid to miniskirts.

Chuy's is decent, but you need to go to Rudy's.

The A&M fans who hung out on utefans in 2004 used that nickname.

Went to Fogo de Chao last night. It was good, but nothing spectacular, I would have rather gone somewhere local instead of a chain.

Hey could be worse, I'm in Roswell, NM. Maybe tomorrow I'll try the Not of This World Diner.

A chain? You are in Austin, man. Austin, Texas.

That's like going to Burger King in Manhattan.

I know, my BIL has this thing for churrascarias and we were taking them out on our last night in town. So it wasn't my choice.
