Stopped in there today based on the write-ups from here.
Glad I did. The reviews were right on. The place was great."We should remember that one man is much the same as another, and that he is best who is trained in the severest school."

Just to add, there is a Provo location in Provo at Brighams Landing. I will just add my endorsement to the list here.

Less than 1/4 mile from my office! I'm doomed!Originally posted by Coach McGuirk View PostJust to add, there is a Provo location in Provo at Brighams Landing. I will just add my endorsement to the list here.Kids in general these days seem more socially retarded...
None of them date. They hang out. They text. They sit in the same car or room and don't say a word...they text. Then, they go home and whack off to internet porn.
I think that's the sad truth about why these kids are retards.

I just noticed this thread.
Some of you may know that I'm South Jersey white trash. Given those credentials, I believe I am well suited to identify a legit cheesesteak. I will acknowledge at the outset that I prefer my cheesesteaks "South Jersey Style." You know, the kind you get at White House or any of the other sub shops owned by the Sacco family (Sackosubs in OC or Ventnor). I don't do Cheese Whiz. In the grand Sacco tradition, I do provolone and I look down on those who fall prey to the Philly cart vendors selling soggy rolls with dry meat and cheese whiz on it.
Preliminaries aside, here goes. DP is good. Very good. The first time I went in there I glanced at their board and noticed that they gave a nod to both the Philly and SJ style of hoagies. I also noticed that they had a bastardized version of my favorite steak. They call it the pizza steak but it is really a pepperoni steak with marinara. I asked the counter girl to give me a pizza steak without marinara and the guy in the back hollered out "Pepperoni Steak, Coming Up!" I grabbed a Chocolate Junior, some Herrs and a Birch beer and sat down. When my order came up, I found Franks on the counter. Legit. Excellent steak, excellent extras. I could have been in EHT.
Compare to Moochies. Moochies was my favorite hoagie shop in SLC. I prefer DP. It doesn't capture the SJ environment as well but it is a better hoagie. I also like that they represent the hoagie shops of South Jersey more than the cheesesteak only shops of Philly.
BTW, 9 in. is the right size sub if you don't want to eat dinner until 8:00 or 9:00 at night. Big hoagie and unless you are 16, it will make you fat.
Three enthusiastic thumbs up.

Has anyone tried the garlic yet? You put some jalapeno sauce on that thing, and it is just heavenly. Smells like a ripe fart. The good kind. Tastes even better.

I ate at the downtown slc location a few days ago and it was good. ONe notable exclusive at DP is their contract with Pennsylvania Dutch to have their amazing Birch Beer on tap. Best. Soda. Ever.
I also ate a jalepeno 12". I think that was about 6" too much sandwich, but I let the gluttony fly since I used a 50% off coupon. Their cherry jalepeno cream cheese sauce is amazazing. I will eat there again. Oh- to answer an earlier question about Moochies- their cheesesteaks aren't great, but the meatball subs-- which are their specialty-- are the best."I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch! I'll make his whole brand go under,"
