  • Review of NYPD Pizzeria in West Valley City, UT

Pizza: good. I would order it again. I had a slice of plain cheese and a slice of meatlovers (bacon, sausage, meatballs, pepperoni). The crust was thin and floppy the way NY pizza should be. Portion sizes were smaller than I would have preferred. If I'm going to pay $1.99 for a slice it should twice as wide as the slices I had today.

Service: NYPD Pizzeria has only been open for a week so there are still some kinks to work out in the service. Our server didn't seem to communicate with the cooks very well - server had to come back twice to inform members of my party that their choice of slice was no longer available or had not been available to begin with. Because of this I would recommend getting your slices for take out instead of sitting down to eat.

Prices: $1.99 per slice for pepperoni, plain cheese, and meat lovers. $2.99 per slice for specialty slices.

Would I go back? I would go back but I would get my slices for take-out.

It's a pity that Nevole's went south after the change in management and that it ultimately closed down, as Nevole's was where it was at in regard to New York-style pizza in the Salt Lake area, IMO. The pizza place that replaced it in the location is really pretty sad.

I've liked what I've had at Este's in Salt Lake, but it can be a bit inconsistent.

I got a slice in Layton yesterday and wasn't very impressed. But for 1.99, not a bad lunch.

I've always had good luck at Este. I crave it frequently but don't get to eat there as often as I'd like.

There used to be a money NY style Pizza place in Clearfield that has since closed down. We used to joke that their crust was laced with Cocaine because it was so addictive and the owner was straight New York and really could have had mob ties.

        I really miss that place.

          Sounds excellent.

Don't get me wrong—I really like Este. The last couple of times I've gone, though, the crust has been a bit on the gummy side, even fresh out of the oven. I went there last summer all the time for slices and loved it, though.

There was a place in Layton that was really good with NY owners also. I used to have their magnet on my fridge, but for the life of me I can't remember the name. I used to go there right after I got back from my mission to NYC. I honestly couldn't tell the difference. And they had great cannoli's too. Angelo's maybe?

Tommy Angelo's was the place. They moved around quite a bit. They started in Clearfield, moved to Layton for a while, then they moved back to Clearfield. I think they ended up closing and moving up on base, and eventually closed down for good.

My dad got to know the managers pretty well (we probably went there 1-2 times a week... like I said, he always joked they were laced with cocaine) and I think one of the sons manages the Sbarro's at Layton Hills mall right now, with the hopes to re-open again.

Man, you really have me craving it now. I can still taste it...

That's the name. I can see the magnet in my mind now. I didn't realize they moved around. When they weren't in the building I knew I tried looking them up online, and couldn't find them. I gave up. And I guess it could have been Clearfield. It was kind of close to the Davis County dump. Just east of there if I remember correctly. Or it might have been the top of Hill Fill RD just west of 89.

And yeah, I'm craving it now too. Very good food. They made great hero sandwichs also.

Is the same on that is in Draper. If so, I was seriously underwhelmed when we went. Wouldn't go back.
