  • You guys have turned me into a food snob.

Well that and my wife's good cooking.

I used to not mind Cafe Rio and the Olive Garden, but now they don't appeal to me at all.

I had Cafe Rio a couple times in the last month and never want to have it again. Blah!

Our kids insisted on us going to Olive Garden with my parents Saturday night and that too was not appealing to me. I actually didn't mind it and it didn't taste too bad, but it won't ever be my choice of places to go here on out.

I still enjoy Cafe Rio steak salad, but the fact that 90% of the customers at CR order that crappy sweet pork is flabbergasting to me. I will only go to OG for lunch. I like the soup salad and breadsticks deal. Zuppa Toscana sings to my soul.

I like the Zuppa Toscana as well. I pick the large chunks of potato out first.

Hey, a food snob is not someone who will only eat at expensive restaurants. A food snob is someone who seeks after the best food. If the best pho is found at a dumpy hole-in-the-wall in Van Nuys with flies buzzing and workers throwing dice behind the kitchen door, thats where the food snob goes. If the best red beans and rice is not at Commanders Palace, but can be found at Popeyes Chicken, that's where the food snob goes.

Right on. I would also add that a food snob really starts to stay away from a lot of pre-prepared, canned, processed stuff.

In other words, food snobs never, ever, ever eat something that has canned "Cream of ______" soup as a base.

I've noticed this as well. Some of us at work have found a mom & pop hole in the wall mexican restaurant that we love.

Yes, the food is the same.

                  They painted the outside though.
