What about KitchenAids? Or do you require that it be kneaded by hand? I make bread all the time, but I wouldn't know what to do if I didn't have a stand mixer and a dough hook. What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

Agreed about the breadmakers. The crust is always poor and the texture just isn't quite right.
I've always been a white bread guy, but I do admit that mrs kccougar makes a very good wheat bread that isn't too heavy and tastes good. Now that she isn't baking cupcakes anymore, we've seen a few more loaves of bread and cinnamon rolls around the house."It's devastating, because we lost to a team that's not even in the Pac-12. To lose to Utah State is horrible." - John White IV

There's a professor at BYU named Gove Allen in the School of Business....he makes the best bread I've ever had....he adds gluten to it and it's buttery and chewy without the need to put anything on it.Originally posted by kccougar View PostAgreed about the breadmakers. My favorite commercial bread is Milton's Multi-grain Plus. I've only ever seen it at Costco in Maryland and North Carolina. Any other Milton's bread isn't even close to the Plus bread."Wuap's "problem" is that he is smart & principled & committed to a moral course of action. His actions are supposed to reflect his ethical code.
The rest of us rarely bother to think about our actions." --Solon

Nothing wrong with using a machine to help with some of the labor that goes along with kneading the dough. I do both,,,just depending on what I feel like.Originally posted by marsupial View PostWhat about KitchenAids? Or do you require that it be kneaded by hand?
