We have lots of containers of various spices on our spice shelf. There are three little bottles from McCormick labeled Grill Masters Steak Rub, Chicken Rub, and Seafood Rub. They're slightly different colors, so they must be different, but it's hard to tell by smelling them. I've used them on steaks, chicken, and fish respectively, and I'm not sure if they improve things or not.
The last time that I was in Hawaii I noticed a package labeled Organic Aloha Seafood Seasoning & Rub from Aloha Spice Company and bought it on a whim. The next time we had fish after we got back home I opened it to try it out. That stuff smelled really good!
I've tried it on a couple of kinds of "plain" fish - white roughy and tilapia, and really like what it does to the fish. Just sprinkle a little bit on each side and fry the fish in a pan and it's delicious. Usually we do that for fish tacos, but the fish is great by itself as well.
When I use up the current foil bag, I'm either going to have to go back over to Hawaii to get some more
or maybe order some from their web site. I may have to try their steak and their chicken & pork varieties as well. And maybe their Luau BBQ seasoning for the next time we make Kalua Pork.
Just wanted to share about a product that surprised me with how good it was.
