  • SLC Celebration Restaurant

The Ute Princess graduates this week (the Lord is merciful) and we're trying to decide on a nice restaurant to celebrate Thursday evening. She has suggested Franck's, Pago, Spencer's (we're staying at the Hilton) or Christopher's. Does anyone have strong feelings either way about those choices, or other recommendations (we've eaten a few times at Cucina Toscana which I quite like, but we'll go for something new this time).

As the honoree is now, or will shortly be, an RN, I'm fine with eating a side of beef as her Heimlich skills are topnotch.

Never had much luck with Christophers. I think it has fallen on hard times.

The go-to celebration place of choice for the board seems to be Forage these days.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

A celebration dinner should also be fun. And nothing says fun like Boondocks.

The Chuck E Cheese's is closer.

Spencer's is pretty solid, though they totally overcooked my steak last time I ate there. I think Christoper's is way overrated; my food was greasy and felt diner-ish with a pretty hefty sticker price.

Forage is remarkable and a good choice if you want a slow-paced meal to just spend time together. It will set you back a similar price to Cucina Toscana if you did the full three courses and dessert there.

Can't believe it's been four years. Scary. We'll be dead as smelts before we know it.

I would actually suggest that you go with Forage, but realize it would be a huge dent in your wallet. $42 per person for the 3 course and $92 for the tasting menu. The food is amazing though and a bargain at that price.

Tell me about it. And it's actually been five years, as she tacked on an extra year to complete a two-year RN program. It seems like just a couple of years since I swallowed hard and posted the announcement of her U admission on Utefans, to the delight of those in red. But she has done surprisingly well, spending pretty much all five years on the Dean's List with a GPA well north of 3.5 and, more importantly, absolutely loves nursing. I reserve the right, of course, to mock Utah athletics and certain fans relentlessly, but as to the school generally and what it did for my daughter, I have nothing but sincere appreciation.

And thanks, funksters, for the Forage recommendation; looks very interesting.

If we do know it, you may end up regretting some of the clap trap you posted here.

Good grief, man, avoid Christopher's at ALL COST!

                      Awful.

The women in my office were giddy at the prospect of lunching at Pago.

PAC, now that she has matured there is plenty of time for her to continue to progress and do grad school at BYU.

I've always enjoyed Ruth Chris, though I have never gone to the one in SLC.

The SLC location isn't open yet... Park City is the only option for Ruths Chris right now...
