  • In-n-Out to NYC

Not really. Just an elaborate, and apparently effective April Fool's prank.

I bet there was barely any excitement generated when 5 Guys opened a store in Manhattan.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/0..._n_522002.html

Posters on empty storefronts in several New York city locations declared "In-N-Out Burger, Coming Summer 2010," according to several readers of popular NYC food blogs . In one of the locations, the empty storefront vacated by Virgin Megastore in Union Square, jokers dressed up as In-N-Out Burger employees could be seen handing out flyers to passers-by.
I guess perceptive New Yorkers didn't bother to notice that the Virgin Megastore might be a slightly large footprint for a hamburger stand.

In-N-Out restaurants are bright, clean, and lively. You're more likely to feel the spirit there than you are in some dirty old Catholic Cathedral.

If the burgers and fries were better, I'd agree.

I can tell you feel very strongly about this issue, as you have taken it from the Foyer and brought it into a thread about hamburgers. get a grip.

Now, now, there's no need for this. I can tell you feel very strongly about hamburgers, and In-N-Out is practically a religion in some parts of the country.

          I apologize for the blasphemy!

There is no blasphemy. You are just misdirecting your ire. If you want to get your inner Samuel the Lamanite groove on, get up on the wall and do it. But I think you will get more traction in a different thread. People won't even know what you are talking about it unless they have read the Foyer post.

Btw, I agree that our Churches could be more inspiring architecturally. However, as an ex-Catholic of sorts, I can say that going to Mass gave me the heebs. I never liked it and much of that had to do with the darkness, the candles, and the generally freaky gloominess. I much prefer the atmosphere at a Mo service.

Now knock it off and start talking about this incredible hamburger prank!

Frankly, the pranksters are lucky they weren't injured. There is some serious resistance to chains and franchises in Manhattan.

I know. Unpopular places like times square are havens for mom and pop stores.

Anti-corporate lefties hate Times Square. The long for the "old" Times Square that was full of mom and pop sex shops.

When I was in New York City, there was a protest group outside of the Disney store. They had fliers about Disney products being produced by child labor.

They can soothe their troubled souls by stopping off at the Home Depot in the Flatiron or the Best Buy in Union Square.

New Yorkers reacted to the opening of the Home Depot in Manhattan the same way Utahns reacted to the IKEA opening. Then they opened up a Costco in East Harlem and they went nuts over that also even though they had a Costco in Queens relatively close to the East River for years before that.

Because of the relative lack of decent Mexican food, Chitpotle always seemed to be busy. While people did hate chain restaurants, they tended to hate chain restaurants that were crappy which most of them are. Chitpotle is not horrible and New York's Mexican options are slim anyway. I think In-N-Out would do just fine in New York given its quality. Hell, people buy hot dogs from street vendors in New York, I think In-N-Out would do well.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

All of the hip, urban youth in the McDo commercials really seem to take well to the dollar menu.

What's Disney supposed to do? Children possess the tiny hands necessary to efficiently assemble the small pieces that make up the modern action figure.
