If I were rich, I'd go back to Blackies in the District (1217 22nd St NW).

Since I'm not, we go to Hard Times Cafe on King Street in Alexandria for Cincinnati chili.

Just go to teh Bethesda metro stop and walk around. There are dozens, if not hundreds of restaurants in just a few blocks' area.

the night I proposed to my ole lady, we had dessert atop the Washington hotel on 15th street. The food sucks (that's why we ate in bethesda and just got dessert here) and the service is worse, but the view is unbelievable.

I really like Chadwick's in Old Town Alexandria. They have great burgers and an awesome crab cake sandwich. I think they have one in Georgetown as well.

There's a good little deli at the Archives/Navy Memorial Metro stop. It's actually right there where the memorial is. They do great breakfast. The name escapes me but I used to eat there daily. Corned beef hash, eggs over easy, home fries, and toast. Awesome.

No one has pushed Ben's Chili Bowl yet? History, hot smokes, cheap food.
I have nothing else to say at this time.

The Atomica from Pizzeria Paradiso is my all-time favorite pizza. I prefer the one in Dupont to the one in Georgetown, but neither will let you down.

Nuh no Surfah ... I was WAY north of Dupont ;-)

Like almost in Chevy Chase above Cleveland Park.

Thanks everyone for the advice! Had trouble logging in for a bit due to some dumb auto password manager on my computer that has since been turned off.

I'm heading out tomorrow and looking forward to the visit, though it will be short and I'll be in meetings all day.

FYI for those who asked what area I'll be in - we're staying at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel, wherever that is (Woodley Rd.)

Too bad you weren't here last week. Last week was restaurant week in DC. Lots of participating restaurants with fixed 3 course meal prices for lunch ($20) and dinner ($35).

Having dinner tonight at a place called Guardado's in Bethesda. Excellent tapas and paella.

Welcome to the outskirts of our nation's capitol! I used to live in Bethesda, aka, "resturant city, USA." I've never tried Guardados. I'm looking forward to your review.

Hill Country BBQ downtown is legit. It certainly lives up to its name.

Actually staying in Georgetown but the dinner there was associated with the event I'm here for. Event was in Chevy Chase but I'm playing tourist today so wanted to stay closer to downtown.

Guardado's was really good. Snapped a pic of the paella.

I'll have to give Guardado's a try. Sorry, I won't be trying Hill Country. I don't trust BBQ joints in downtown D.C.

Next time you are in town, get a reservation (you'll need one) for Rasika. Amazing indian food for a decentish price.

Meh. Hill Country is decent BBQ for DC, but that really isn't saying much.
