You should be happy with this. It will hopefully help revitalize another area of downtown SLC and it didn't even cost billions of dollars!

Pork is good, but sometimes can be dry.Originally posted by Maximus View PostI tried the pull pork there. Not sure I understood how the fish option works, is it raw?
You can just ask them to sample the fish. It's raw, there are a few cooked items. I'd recommend the kimchi mussels and any of the salmon or tuna types. The shellfish ones are cooked. They have octopus that's cooked as well.

It's awesome. The lady said they fly their fish in fresh every day, not open on Monday or Sunday.
They let you sample all the types they have that day. If you like that kind of stuff, you should hit it up.

Proper Brewing Company opens its doors on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.

They have great pedigree and I'm excited to try their brews. I'll be making a trip downtown to pick up a few. I also think there packing is sharp and they have some clever plays on the local culture in them. Recommend Rye and Lake Effect. Wasatch has tried this and I think has ultimately failed in their efforts to be clever.

I'm excited to try these and excited with the growing craft beer scene in Utah. Even Utah County has 2 breweries set to open up this year (we will see if it actually happens). I think there are 4-5 set to open this year or next year in Salt Lake or Davis county.
I do think the market will become over saturated and some of these will fail, but it is an exciting time for sure for beer lovers in Utah. Distribution into the state sucks, so people are fixing that problem by making great beer here.

Winco now carries shoyu ahi poke. They fly it in frozen, then defrost it in the seafood case. They have mild (which is surprisingly spicy) and spicy. They said they cannot keep it in stock. Yes, it is pre-frozen, but then so is all the other poke you buy in Vegas or in Utah. And $7.98/lb.

High West Distillery is a treasure that the majority of this state is missing out on.
I managed to get my hands on some of their Campfire Whiskey for a ridiculously low price. $25.00 less than I could get it at the distillery even. A bourbon, rye, and scotch blend that is fantastic. SeattleUte is right, Utah should be proud of this place.

I'm going to go ahead and put a plug in for the burger at Red Rock. It is actually really damn tasty and I like the flat bread pocket that they use for the bun. It goes great with an Elephino and if you go soon it can also go great with a Furlung.
Bruge in Provo also has a half Belgian hot chocolate/half coffee with creme fraiche that is really good. Basically, the best mocha that I've ever had. I'm not sure if the SLC locations have it or not. It went quite well with the machine gun sandwich.

I like Frida Bistro. Two great appetizers: the blue corn calamari and the ceviche.Originally posted by CJF View PostI thought about Forage. Looks like they're booked. Frida Bistro looks good. Maybe I can take you to lunch there this week to try it out.
