I really liked A&W's when it was only available at their drive-ins. Mass production has taken away some of it's luster.

      1. Dad's
      2. A&W
      3. Mug
      4. Barq's.

      Everything else is total crap!
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

        Now you're talking.
What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

If you can recommend good black cherry cream soda (vanilla, meh), I'm listening. I've only tried (that I can recall)

Henry Weinhard's-currently the best I've found, but I'm no connoisseur
          Thomas Kemper's-blah
          Virgil's-okay

I thought I loved root beer.

            Now I know better.

I think I've found a project for Christmas vacation.

Name your Top 10 favorite Root Beer brands. Here are mine:
              1. Americana
              2. Snoqualmie Falls Brewing Company
              3. Crater Lake
              4. Sprecher
              5. Bulldog
              6. Howie's
              7. Boylan's Birch / Boylan's Creamy Red Birch
              8. Sioux City Sarsaparilla / Sioux City Birch
              9. IBC
              10. Hank's

For purposes of classification, birch beer and sarsaparilla are considered to be just another genus of the root beer family.

              cheers.
I can't believe that IBC is on your list and Weinhard's is not.

I will add that I used to love Root Beer.

I still do, but I have gotten to the point I can't drink an entire bottle of the stuff anymore. Too rich, frothy, etc. I feel bloated after drinking an entire bottle of, say, Weinhard's, now.

So, I've turned my attention to finding find diet root beers.

Thomas Kemper is not my favorite regular root beer, but I do think their Diet Root Beer is pretty good for a diet root beer.

                    Preach it, brother!

But A&W is better than Dad's IMHO.

You guys are crazy. It's a hamburger root beer! Store McDonald's brand, Five Guys A&W, In-n-Out IBC, etc., they are all the same.

I love many on your lists, especialy Sprechers, but my favorites right now are probably Jackson Hole Soda Company Buckin’ Rootbeer and Brighams Brew. Moochie's is the only place in Salt Laike that I have seen that has the Buckin Rootbeer and Brighams Brew is only available on tap from Wasatch Brewery, but it is excellent.

This thread is an abomination. Why has nobody listed a frosted glass of Brick Oven root beer? yum!....

Why hasn't anyone started a list of top ten non-alcoholic beers?

I don't have any idea what brand it was, but my most memorable root beer experience happened at the 100th anniversary of ZCMI. My sister and I got to come back to Utah and spend the summer with my grandparents. One saturday we went down town to ZCMI. They had an old fasioned Soda Fountain set up and sold old fasioned Sasparilla in a mug taken right out of freezer chest.

I've never had root beer quite like that since.

I may be small, but I'm slow.
