  • Enduring to the End

So I've been on my soujourn in Utah for almost 6 months now. And have lost about 40 lbs (not a bad thing to be sure).

However, the rest of this month bodes well.

I fly to Seattle for a week tomorrow night. A great food city. I plan to eat a lot of seafood as well as hit the Met one night.

Then I come home for 3 days and it's off to Cali for Thanksgiving ... and a chance to have a Double-Double or two and maybe hit some other decent restaurants. Though we're headed to Sacramento so maybe not.

I wish I could say I had really buckled down but it's more just default changes from the move to Utah.

        1. My employer has a cafeteria for lunch where there are lots of choices. Even when I get the entrees, that's still light years ahead of the burger and fries / fast food fare I used to eat for lunch.

        2. I take public transportation to work which involves a fair amount of walking. At leat 1/2 mile or so a day. And sometimes when I can get out of the office early I will walk all the way from my office at State and North Temple to the Intermodal Hub (or at least the Gateway).

        3. Lots of walking between buildings for work. My building is up the hill from the none I wlak to the most so even though it's only across the street ...

I think this is FM's way of complaining about food in SLC...

Aren't you up in Davis county? SLC food scene <> Davis county food scene. Not by a long stretch. For a smaller, whiter, homogenous city, SLC has great food. It's a different city than it was ten years ago.

Seems like there was a write-up in Gourmet magazine rating SLC as one of the top 10 newer food cities in the country. Other cities on on the list (from my vague recollection) included San Diego and Chapel Hill. I can't find the link to the link but it was from a few months ago.

At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

Chapel Hill has a *GREAT* restaurant scene... all of the Triangle does, really. There are some amazing places here in Raleigh. I've gained weight since I moved here.
