actually, i guess technically, if whiskey is a type of bourbon, then all bourbons are whiskey, but not all whiskeys are bourbon. So in the case of JD, a whiskey that is not a bourbon?

I'll use the JD. I did buy a couple of bottles of rum for rum cake and rum balls. So I guess I could use that if I need to, but from what the guy at the state liquor store told me, JD would be his pick for a bourbon type flavor in a cobbler. This guy looked like he would know. A funny story. When you walk into our house our living room, dining room and kitchen are all one big open room. I had the cobbler in the oven when the Relief Society Presidency decided to drop by unannounced. Well.....I don't clean as I go so I had an almost empty bottle of Jack Daniels out on the counter in plain sight.
