  • Beef Tenderloin steak

I'm ignorant. I didn't know beef tenderloin steak was also filet mignon. About 6 weeks ago our Costco had tenderloin on sale for $2.99 a pound. I bought a couple of packages and put them in the freezer in packages of two. Yesterday we didn't know what to have for dinner so we broke out two of these steaks. They were incredible. My wife grows basil, tyme and chives so I took a bunch of that, a teaspoons of roasted garlic, a bit of olive oil, about a tablespoon of whole peppercorns and a dash of sea salt. I put them in the food processor and got a nice mix. I scrubbed 4 or 5 small red potatoes and sliced them into quarters. I rolled the potatoes in the mixture and put them in the oven at 375. I took the rest of the herb mixture and added about 3 tablespoons of butter and stirred it all together. I then grilled the steaks to medium rare. They were pretty think so it took about 25 minutes. Brought them into the house and put the herb butter mixture on and let it sit for about 5 minutes. Pulled the potatoes out and served. Fresh french green beans, a garden small salad, roasted herb potatoes and an absolutely delish steak.

Sorry, I'm hungry and can't stop thinking about what to have for lunch. Can't wait to have tenderloin again.

CJF, this sounds amazing. I'm going to give it a shot later on this month.

I hope you bought a whole lot of it at $2.99/lb. That is ridiculously cheap for tenderloin

      The recipe sounds good also.

I may be small, but I'm slow.

CJF, I tried your method tonight and it was a hit! The potatoes were great and so was the steak, though sadly I overcooked them. I also sauteed some mushrooms in the herb butter and it tied in quite well. Thanks again for posting this.
