Why no Trader Joe's in Utah?

    http://www.traderjoes.com/pdf/locations/eastcoast.pdf

Several states have Trader Joes that sell NO alcohol.

Several other locations sale beer only.

Sounds like they could operate just fine in Utah.

There must be some other reason than the oft-mentioned Utah mantra, "They won't come because of our alcohol laws."

Turns out Utah's alcohol laws aren't really all that much different than in many of the enlightened and liberal eastern and southern states. Colorado's aren't all the much different when it comes to retail sales either, are they?

I love their vegetable juice. In particular, there is one called Essential Greens, which is, according to the label, 2 lbs of vegetables in a 15.2 oz bottle.

Consists of: celery, spinach, parsley, cucumber, kale, romaine, wheat grass, sunflower greens, and clover sprouts. Only thirty calories. This drink is SO legit! It's the only thing I go to Trader Joe's for... well that and the bored cougars and milfs in yoga pants as far as the eye can see (effing Scottsdale...psshhh).

I'll have to give this a try. I love vegetable juice.

If you haven't tried Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Almonds sprinkled with sea salt and turbinado sugar then don't. You'll quickly become addicted.

My wife told me they were out when she last went. I think she senses my quickly developing addiction and is intervening in her own way.

                TJ's

So, the internet rumor is that TJ's is building a distribution center in CO that will cover CO & UT. Supposedly there's some kind of five-year expansion plan that covers at least those two states.

It took a while, but I finally convinced my kids to enjoy the Manna from Heaven that is swei-jau. $2.99/bag is a bargain. I have made those things from scratch and let me tell you it takes HOURS of preparation.

T.J.'s also has an Habanero sauce that is WICKED hot. I also groove on the dark chocolate-covered pomegranate seeds. Good stuff.

I like swei-jau. Mrs. Meanie makes them from scratch all the time.

That being said, Trader Joes is a lame store where only affluent retired folks or yuppies with no kids go to shop.

You're thinking of Whole Foods. TJ's is cheap and populated with hippies.

TJ's house brand in SoCal is some of the best hummus around. The house brand in Chicago tasted different, but it was still pretty good.

The potstickers - both pork and chicken - are winners. The Gyoza sauce they sell is great for dipping them.

They also had some kind of peppermint chocolate chip ice cream around Christmas last year that was very pleasing.

To the contrary, it's a relaxed place with good deals on yummy food.

Nope. Whole Paycheck is in Utah already. It's TJ's. Just no two buck chuck.

Had the polenta with spinach and carrots last night, good stuff. It's in the frozen section, you just dump it in a bowl and microwave for 4 minutes or so. Grill up a couple apple chicken sausages and you have a great meal in less than 10 minutes.
