  • In Vegas for anniversary

We just finished our quick visiting my sister/taking the kids to Disneyland leg of our trip and now we are in Vegas and it happens to be our anniversary (14th) today. Anyways, I am looking for suggestions for dinner tonight (obviously it would have to be something I could get a reservation for on pretty short notice)? Anything from the relatively inexpensive to the expensive side would be welcome in terms of suggestions.

You would think that I would know the Vegas dining scene since I grew up here but I haven't lived here in 18 years and I considered a Buffet the ultimate dining experience back then.

Sorry, I meant that it was our 14th anniversary not that our anniversary was on the 14th.

Pelagiu$, are you sticking around for the Vegas Bowl?

I may need a bodyguard to roll with me and my crew on Saturday night.

Yes, I extended my trip a couple of days so I can catch the Vega$ Bowl (the rest of the family is going back on Friday).

DDD, I was victimized by SoCal traffic on Monday. We went like 2.5 miles in 2.5 hours on I-10 at one point on Monday afternoon (a freeway sign came down and there was only one lane).

Yes, I think you picked the worst week of the year to be here. The weather has been awful....freezing cold, rain, etc. At least Diz wasn't crowded....

In SoCal, rain is always newsworthy. reporters get dispatched all over the southland so they can report "live" from a certain location while standing in the rain. They stand there in their rain gear and simply comment on the fact that it is raining. Traffic gets gridlocked. Accidents were especially bad this week because this is the first big rain of the year, so the roads were slick.

You should have let me know and I could have given you some alternate routes.

Saying you were vicitmized by tgraffice in So Cal islike saying you were breathing. Of course you were.

Disneyland was actually really nice on Tuesday. No rain and my kids thought it was pretty warm. Particuarly in the morning there were virtually no lines. For many of rides we went multiple times because we didn't have to exit after the ride was over because there was nobody in line.

Apparently we were somewhat fortunate. We made it to Vegas late last night and my Dad just told me that parts of I-15 are closed (the cajon pass) this morning (I almost decided not drive to Vegas last night).

                              A couple quick suggestions:

1- Rosemary's Restaurant. I feel like a broken record always pimping this place, because there are so many restaurants in Vegas to choose from. Nevertheless, this is a great restaurant with Americanized French-style cuisine. Not to toot my own horn, but I recommended the place to Triplet, and it passed the test. It is off the strip on West Sahara, so with the lower overhead they are able to put more into the food without makign the prices ridiculous.

                              http://www.rosemarysrestaurant.com/

2- Lotus of Siam. This is the best Thai restaurant out of about a dozen i've eaten at in Vegas. It is pretty reasonably priced for the quality of food, and they aren't chinsy on portion size, either. It requires a 1-day-in advance reservation on weekends, but on a weekday you should be able to get in by calling a few hours in advance.

Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock
