  • Canteloupe

We just joined a local food co-op and in our first delivery there are two large canteloupes (among other things). Neither my wife nor I can stand canteloupe, but since I haven't eaten it since I was a kid and I hate throwing away food, I'm willing to give it another try. So canteloupe lovers, how do you make it palatable?
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

I love cantaloupe. Nothing like some chilled cantaloupe cubes with a scoop of rich vanilla ice cream on top.

Gidget hates melons. I wish she enjoyed melons more. I've tried to get her to appreciate them like I do, even showing her how to pick good ones by touch. But melons just don't do much for her.

By throwing it away. I hate the smell, I hate the aftertaste. My grandma would eat with pepper. The only useful purpose I have seen for cantaloupe is feeding it to chickens so the bowels get moving. That was a fun trick in the mission -- stick it in some other missionaries' apartment and let the fun begin.
I have nothing else to say at this time.

I second this, although I think they are great on their own as well.

A ripe cantaloupe is one of my favorite things to eat. However there is a very thin line between amazing deliciousness and awful. This summer I had much more awful than amazing.

For me it was a really good year for watermellon. Did anyone else notice that? I bought a couple of watermelons every week during the season, and only had two mushy mealy ones in all of that time. The rest were pure, crisp, sweet, pink perfection.
