Taylor Swift won best female video. Kanye jumped up and took the mic from her during her speech and said that Beyonce (who was nominated for single ladies) made the best video of the year.

Irony: While watching the nominees for several videos I remarked to Gidget that I had never seen most of them. MTV sucks.

I can't decide what's worse: what Kanye West did; that people are sticking up and feeling bad for Taylor Swift; or that people/I care as much as I do.

I just watched both the Taylor Swift and Beyonce vids. I was reminded of how much I dislike the lyrics to the Beyonce song. If you liked it you should have put a ring on it? So much of what is wrong with relationships today can be summed up by the lyrics to that song. But the image of the three women dancing is really cool, and the lighting is sweet, and I like the B&W.

The Taylor Swift video is very sweet and tells a nice little conventional love story. Band girl gets the guy over cheer leader. There is strong narrative and a timeless story that will certainly be the girl anthem for many young women drooling over hunky guys that are 'out of their league' all over the country.

I'd take the Beyonce tune over the Swift tune, and both the lyrics are equally grating, but I can see how Taylor Swift won with a video with a strong narrative.

I think people have forgotten that Taylor Swift is 19 years old. She is still a teenager. This piece of shit is a Bully. He saw a weak teenager and took advantage of the opportunity to parade knowing full well this young girl would not stop him or know how to react..

I'd like to see him pull that same shit on Eminen, Green day or any other person for that matter. He wouldn't of done it. Only to the young Taylor who has yet to experience such an abrasive person..

Ironically, Beyonce's video won the top award of Best Video at the end of the show. And Beyonce was very classy in her brief acceptance and giving the moment to Taylor to finish her speech.

Taylor's voice leaves a lot to be desired. However, she's a musician and songwriter first and is incredibly talented. I thought she showed a lot of maturity and composure in her live performance just minutes after Kanye's interruption.

So Taylor has a video about a band girl winning the guy over the popular, pretty cheerleader... and when she tries to accept her award, some wannabe jock with a hard-on for the real-life popular, pretty Beyonce interrupts plain old band girl Taylor? The VMA's sound like an extension of high school. Did Beyonce say "Kanye you are soooooo sweet! You can, like, get in my pants any time!!"

After reading a few blogs and comments like those in this threaf and rewatching the moment (I watched live last night as well), there is less than 0.5% chance this wasn't staged. A classic win-win-win.

Taylor-Goes from relative unknown to a large audience to very well known, and gets a huge sympathy boost for how badly she was treated. Huge win.

Beyonce-Now easily the classiest woman in music. Major bump, her husband drops a new album Tuesday. Big win.

Kanye-Gets to be the hottest google trend for a day or two, no pub is bad pub. He has proven that statement over and over again. Solid win.

Plus MTV's love of staging events to add hype to their events, see this summers movie awards with Eminem. I am proud of myself for not falling for this one for a minutre.

Hmmm... good point. Interesting how Swift had a red dress that perfectly fit and matched Beyonce's dress perfectly.
