I already mentioned it a few weeks ago, but the band "fun." has finally released their debut album, Aim and Ignite, this week. The band is made of former members of The Format, Anathallo, and Steel Train, and the album is simply spectacular. fun seems to bring out the best of all three of those bands: the stunning musicality and texture of Anathallo, the range and storytelling of The Format, and the depth of Steel Train.
This is clearly my favorite album of 2009 -- all ten tracks are worthy of attention. As the band name refers, the music is fun, light, refreshing, and optimistic. Do yourself a favor and consider it.
