Audible has a gigantic sale going on today. I picked up the entire Sun Eater series for less that $40.

Some of the series that I recommend to folks that are available:

Red Rising series (Books 1-6)
Dungeon Crawler Carl (All but book 8)
Bobiverse Series (All 5 books)
Columbus Day Series (Books 1-17)

Get it while the getting is good.

I sent all of DCC and RR to both TK1 and TK2 this morning as gifts.

We all "read" a ton of books. We were just together as a family this weekend down in St. George and both of these series came up. So I figured for around $200 total investment, we will have a ton of stuff to talk about.

Having adult kids that have similar hobbies is awesome.

I really liked Bobiverse. DCC, I have the first sitting at home, so will try and read that soonish.

Red Rising - I got through about 2 1/2 and noped out of those. They were really bad.

The Murderbot series is fun.

speaking of terrible books. I just read the Powerless series to see if my daughter would like them. I ended up hate finishing them. UGH, so bad. Red Rising was better than those.

Also I read Mickey7 and a bunch of other books by Edward Ashton. Tick I think you would like those. Mal Goes to War was fun. It was about a runaway AI trying to save people.

When my youngest daughter moved away for college, she went all in on reading in her spare time. Mostly fantasy and some sci-fi, but she has read plenty of other fiction as well. Its been something she and I have really been able to bond over for the last two years. I wasn't huge into fantasy before, but I'm all in if it gives us something to talk and text about.

Most of what I have read are variations of Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Divergent, or Enders game. Just switch out the location and the mystical creature. Not much original thought in that genre.

Hate finishing is a great term.

I enjoyed the movie version of Mickey 7 (I assume it's the same the movie is Mickey 17?).

Same premise and characters. Takes a different trajectory towards the end. I liked the book and it's follow up better.

I just finished Rand Paul's Deception. Don't read when pissed off, it will make it worse.

Trying to understand the chemistry and immunology was challenging. However, Paul's feelings mostly lined up with what I ultimately came to think about C19 and the vaccines. The difference is that it took me years while he understood the issues in real time.

Finished Project Hail Mary. Phenomenal story. He's great at that and is becoming a pipeline to the big screen which is, I'm sure, very lucrative. He struggles imo with dialog and expressing actual humanity. Characters are pretty limited and hard to tell apart. But he made the relationship between the 2 main characters a lot of fun and had a cool take on (I'm trying not to spoil anything here) how an interaction like that might go. Definitely recommend for a fun read. Looking forward to the movie.

On to Dungeon Crawler Carl. I'm on page 70 and could take it or leave it so far. It's been recommended by so many people I trust that I'm sure the fun is just beginning.

Physical copy or audiobook? This is one of those where audiobook is superior. By far. Jeff Hayes is amazing.

It took me about 4 chapters into the book to really get into it.
