  • I just got the new S.A. Crosby book, King of Ashes last night and I am excited to read it. If you haven't read any of his books, they are great. His style is described as Southern Noir. They can be gritty, but I have enjoyed them all.

what are his (?) other books about?

I admit, this seems outside of what I think you normally read.

        I read everything. https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/...=nav_profile_l

I just started the new Stephen King book 2 days ago, after finishing the Rise and Fall: The Story of 9/11. The book I finished before that was the new Joe Abercrombie book, The Devils (this was pretty good fantasy). Abercrombie is awesome. I didn't like this as much as his First Law Trilogy, but apparently James Cameron really did and bought the rights to make the movie.

S A Crosby other books are so good. Blacktop Wasteland is about a former getaway driver that gets pulled in for one more drive and things go very bad. Razorblade Tears was my favorite. It is about 2 ex-cons whose respective sons get killed and they go out for revenge. It would be an awesome movie.

Just checked this one out from the library. Always looking for new books and authors.

          • I rarely read nonfiction and even more rarely listen to an audible book, but the trailer for next year's movie release of Project Hail Mary (looks very good) moved me to get the audible edition of Andy Weir's novel. I got through six chapters on my hike yesterday and am enjoying it very much thus far, but it's very sciencey which may not appeal to some.

The IQ books by Joe Ide are fun. I really liked the first 2 in the series.

Which book is that? I'm about 3/4 done with 11-22-63 and am loving it.

I did that audiobook when it was first released. Its a great book and the narrator did a fantastic job. I'm hopeful that Ryan Gosling doesn't screw it up. I think he could be a good casting for the role.

That is such a good book. That and The Stand are the best King books imo. Well, I do love the Dark Tower series.

The newest book is called Never Flinch. It is the part of a series that started with the Bill Hodges trilogy:
                      Mr Mercedes
                      Finders Keepers
                      End of Watch

                      Those were all good.

Then it transitioned to the Holly Gibney series:
                      The Outsider - good
                      If it Bleeds - dumb
                      Holly - good
                      Never Flinch - just started

                      • The Empusium by Olga Tokarczuk. It’s an homage to Mann’s The Magic Mountain (one of my all time favorites). I have loved everything Tokarczuk has written so far and figured this book was practically written FOR me. Halfway through and I’m just not connecting with it at all.

Wait, are you implying that Project Hail Mary is nonfiction? Amaze!

Atkinson's output is prodigious, both in quantity and quality. His Liberation Trilogy is a great chronicle of WWII in Europe and Africa.
