My wife is reading this now and won't put it down so I'll have to wait until she is finished. We both just finished In the Garden of Beasts and this fits in well from a historical perspective.

I find that if i'm driving, an audio book works fine. However, the minute I sit down on the couch with the intent of listening to an audio book, my mind drifts and I miss things. I also find that I forget details much quicker from an audio book, as I don't have the visualization of the words to fall back on.Originally posted by SteelBlue View PostI don't do well with audio versions. Just finished "The World's Strongest Librarian"
http://www.amazon.com/Worlds-Stronge...gest+librarian
It is a memoir written by an LDS guy with Tourettes syndrome that is getting a lot of buzz lately. A little slow in parts, but a decent read overall."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

I can't listen to audiobooks when I'm at home, because there are too many distractions, but when I take a walk I'm almost always listening to an audiobook. I've also found that I don't enjoy listening to non-fiction on an audiobook, and I enjoy most listening to novels with rich language. There is something satisfying about the spoken word.Originally posted by SteelBlue View PostI don't do well with audio versions. I drift off and miss things."The mind is not a boomerang. Maybe I'll give it a shot with Train Dreams. So, since you've read it already, any thoughts on the '12 Pulitzer snub? I thought that was very strange. I guess Johnson has good company though. I read somewhere that the last time no prize was awarded, A River Runs Through It was a finalist.Originally posted by Non Sequitur View PostI can't listen to audiobooks when I'm at home, because there are too many distractions, but when I take a walk I'm almost always listening to an audiobook.
