You can't have John Ames be one of your favorite fictional characters and not have a lot of soul. And you can't have Marilynne Robinson be one of your favorite authors and not be serious about faith and Christianity. In what in my mind is a first, the President of the United States conducted an interview. Has a President ever interviewed someone before while they were President? And who did Obama want to talk to most? Ms. Robinson. Because he loves her books.

I like this man.
