      A few years back, I bought the wife an 1.5 ct Asha "diamond" in a pendant setting for 400 bucks. Seems to look just as good as its $6000 counterpart. She doesn't wear it everyday though and I read going in that an Asha will "wear out" eventually. For $400 though... no regrets.

      A 1-carat round Amora "diamond" will run you $550 (bring your own ring). Amora supposedly has better durability.
