This is one of those deals I would love to hear all the details about how it happened. I'm a fan of U2 and I love the Apple products but this seems like a bad idea on both ends. It's reeks of desperation for U2 to find a new audience and for Apple to make a splash with the I6. The album is pleasant but boring and with Jobs at the helm the product was enough to get people excited.

On Howard Stern a few days ago they said Apple paid U2 $100 million for it.Originally posted by RC Vikings View PostThis is one of those deals I would love to hear all the details about how it happened. Well good news- there's another one on the way.Originally posted by jay santos View PostI'm a big U2 fan. Not super happy about the way this was released. A little embarrassing. I've been anticipating this album for a few years. I like it. Don't love it yet, but it's awesome to have new U2 music."I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch! I'll make his whole brand go under,"

On one hand U2 was more overpaid than Gilbert Arenas was by the Orlando Magic. On the other hand perhaps it's worth every penny to see hipsters go full asshole over something so stupid.Last edited by Color Me Badd Fan; 09-19-2014, 08:01 AM.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

U2 hit their peak with War. Joshua Tree was also great. It's been all downhill since then. I have this new album but haven't listened to it yet...and probably won't ever."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I agree. U2 is pretty lame. They are entering the beginning phases of Rolling Stone territory since it appears that they want to continue in perpetuity to behave as though they are a relevant rock band.Originally posted by Moliere View PostU2 hit their peak with War. I don't blame them for cashing in when so few bands are able to do so. If the $100 million figure is correct then any whining is sour grapes.
Joshua Tree was the peak. However they have made some really good albums since then. All You Can't Leave behind is fantastic.

Rattle and Hum was indulgent (but its U2 so of course it is) but also pretty good. I also like Achtung Baby a lot.Originally posted by Shaka View PostI don't blame them for cashing in when so few bands are able to do so. If the $100 million figure is correct then any whining is sour grapes.

I don't think anybody blames them for cashing in. I don't even blame them for their tax avoidance; in fact, given my chosen profession I kind of admire that about them!Originally posted by Shaka View PostI don't blame them for cashing in when so few bands are able to do so. It's the fact that they put it on everyone's itunes that's annoying. When I read about the deal, I thought it was just an option for everyone to go to itunes and download it for free if they wanted it. Then I go to my "recently added" folder, and the damn thing is just sitting there.
Though Moliere's comment that he's got the album (yeah, pretty much everyone does) made me laugh, so that little pleasure might be worth the annoyance of having to delete it from my itunes. So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Nope, but I like War better than bothOriginally posted by originalsocal View PostAm I the only one here that thinks Joshua Tree was a step down from Unforgettable Fire?"Discipleship is not a spectator sport.
