  • "Angry Boys" on HBO

    is some offbeat, genius hilarity.

I've only watched the first two episodes. Follows a mostly deaf Australian kid, an Aussie home for juvenile delinquents, and some mockumentary tracking of an idiot rapper named S.Mouse with rich parents and a Segway.
    Ute-ī sunt fīmī differtī

It can't all be wedding cake.

I've now watched the next couple of episodes and have a better grasp - the only fixed elements in the story is a set of Aussie twins and their family and then a series of spot characters (some of them recurring) circulate in the series. It's written and produced by the Australian comedian Chris Lilley. (and most of the key characters are played by him as well).

There are stretches of genius but the execution is a bit uneven. The teenage rich kid rapper is hysterical, the gay Japanese skateboarder sequence falls pretty flat.

The twins are my favorites. Nothing beats Summer Heights High, though. I loved the Australian of the Year show too.
