I think that is the dickhead that was at the Pole concert. An album as "thick" as this one....twisting melodies....

    :condom:

Ok, I think I need to take a break from it for now. I have something I need to write and needs my concentration!

I will come back to you later, King of Limbs.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

I'm looking at an index of songs they were known to be working on, and I'm just stunned by the number of tracks that didn't make this album. Of the pile of 15 or so, 3 appear on this record (Lotus Flower, Give Up the Ghost, and Mouse Dog Bird now as "Separator").

Please tell me I'm not going to have to wait 3.5 years to hear the rest of them.

This article on Thom's dance moves in the Lotus Flower video is pretty sweet: http://www.nme.com/blog/index.php?bl...ves&more=1&c=1

I was thinking the same thing. I hope there's an Amnesiac in the wings. Somehow I doubt it, though. Part of that is because RH was pretty upfront about Kid A and Amnesiac being nearly a double disc. They haven't said much in that vein this time around.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Something about how short this album is, the number of known tracks left off, the sort of deliberate separation of the style of the material before and after Feral, the name change to Separator that has nothing to do with the song, and the way that song remains strangely unresolved at the end given that it's a closer just feels kind of strange -- especially for a Radiohead album, where the closers always feel much more deliberate than this does.

What happened to the following: The Present Tense (Phil said it was a "great guitar and vocal song" and they were trying their best to do it justice), Skirting on the Surface, Open the Floodgates, Super Collider, A Walk Down the Staircase, Burn the Witch, Follow Me Around, Wake Me (Colin mentioned it as his favorite of the new stuff), Dawn Chorus, I Lie Awake, Come to Your Sense, I Froze Up, Riding a Bullet.

They were known to be working on all of these. Of all the stuff Thom premiered, most of my favorites are still somehwere out there. With all the songs they were working on, I have no idea why the would limit this to 8 tracks and roughly 37 minutes. It feels like they withheld another full album of similar length.

I just don't get it. Maybe b-sides? An ep? Just going to hold out for the new LP?

              I guess we'll find out.

I just watched "Meeting People is Easy" on hulu.

Am I mistaken, or was Thom Yorke one of the original "Lollipop Guild" members?

                Man that dude is short...

Ok, I've thinking a lot about this thing and some of the things that don't add up about what we know from the material they've worked on. The first song is Bloom, the last song is Separator. The last song doesn't feel like the end of something but rather feels as if you've been left unresolved. And of course there's this issue all these remaining songs, with nary the mention of a bonus disc or ep (which they've done on about every album). We also know the band has talked for several years about want to do eps so they can play with a musical style but not be committed to it for the length of an album. Plus, the promo shot has all the bands members with their arms extended like limbs, and the name of this album invokes that idea.

Wild crazy crack pot speculation on my part: what we got today is the base (the kings of limbs) and they're going to do a series of eps that extend off of it like limbs or branches from a tree. Perhaps even four since every member of the band has his arm out except colin. Their hands are all blurred/obscured but their faces are in focus, and his face is obscured/blurred like their arms.

When I wake up tomorrow and read this ill probably feel like an idiot. But right now there's just too much material from these sessions out there for me not to think something else is going to happen.

The "thank you for waiting" art has two figures with eyes, and four other limbs. The album cover art has two ghoulish figures with four limbs between them. The band's press shot for the album has two big main trees with four of the members of the band each extending one arm.

                    I'm losing my mind.

I think all indications point to a Queen of Limbs coming out shortly.

Do you cut and paste from at ease or is that phenom just limited to basketball stats?

There are some disparate theories going on at greenplastic and atease, and what I've mentioned above is sort of collaboration of things I've read plus other stuff I'm piecing together. For example, someone mentioned the two main figures with four limbs on the "thank for waiting," and then I noticed that the art coverwork and press shot echo the same idea. Even made a post about it on GP last night!

Look at you once again trying to be the antagonist. Fortunately my loveability knows no bounds.

Prior to this thread I felt there were two guys on this board who had reached "my band can crap on a disc and I'll still buy it and love it" (otherwise known as the Rolling Stones phenomenon) status with Radiohead. I was wrong. I've whittled my list to one.

To be fair, I haven't downloaded it yet. But based on what I've read I'm not in much of a rush. In fact, I think I'll let my kid buy it and steal it from him.
