I have a 2:42 p.m. "UP date" with my daughter. It's fun that she's finally at an age where she can anticipate and look forward to something like this. (Well, fun for me. I was informed last night by Mrs D. that I told Donette about the date about two days too early (I told her on Wednesday night) because Donette asked no fewer than 20 times yesterday if it was Friday, yet).Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostThinking of taking my daughter to see Up. I notice that the IMAX theater doesn't sell tickets on fandango. Does anyone know if you can pre-purchase tickets at the IMAX theater in Sandy? If I go today, can I buy tickets for tomorrow's show or are all ticket sales day-of only? It is weird that you cannot buy them online.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss
There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

That sounds fun. I have a date with my daughter this afternoon, but Im not as spendy as you. I am taking her to the Eyring Science Center on campus to look at the pendulum and maybe yell into those oil funnel megaphone things.Originally posted by Donuthole View PostI have a 2:42 p.m. "UP date" with my daughter. Be sure to swing by Zuka Juice on your way back. TIP: It's cheaper if you get a large and have them split it into two small cups.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostThat sounds fun. Those things are calorie bombs. If I am going to cheat, I am going over to snoasis in Alpine.
I think we are going to the creamery to get a scoop of merion berry.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

I have new found respect for the creamery if they have marion berry ice cream. I grew to love that hybrid berry during my time in PDX. Tillamook has a Marion Berry Pie Ice Cream that is very good. I miss Tillamook ice cream.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View Post

The Zuka reference was intentional, as I was hearkening back to my pre-mission college days. Also, it is Marionberry.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostZuka Juice. Ha. you are showing your age! Isn't it Jamba juice now?

I learned about the Jamba takeover in SF at the airport on my way back from Guatemala. My last companion was from the SF area, and he (unbeknowst to me) sent his younger sister to meet me at the SF airport, where I had a 2-hour layover. She was cute, but I was out of my element (obviously), which made for notable awkwardness whenever the conversation veered away from Elder Turner. We talked over Jambas, where she explained that all Zukas had been overtaken by Jamba.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

oh, they have it alright. although I guess I was misspelling it. However, I am pretty sure it is reference to the Washington DC Mayor and not the hybrid fruit. That bastard mayor Marion Berry has ruined the good name of the marionberry. Now when people think of the marionberry they think of a crack smoking mayor and not a delicious hybrid of the Chehalem berry and the Olalieberry concocted in the great state of Oregon.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View Postoh, they have it alright. although I guess I was misspelling it. In trying to find out the 2 berries that combined to produce the marionberry, I discovered this "As of February 2009, the Oregon Legislature has proposed to make the marionberry the official state berry, under House Joint Resolution 11. Although supported by all 90 legislators, the resolution has been delayed by the Oregon Raspberry and Blackberry Commission, as a Washington County farmer named Larry Duyck has objected. Duyck grows the Kotata blackberry, as opposed to the marionberry. He suggests that as the marionberry already the most produced variety of blackberry, official recognition would boost its sales even more and hurt other varieties. Most legislators have agreed not to press the issue."
Add Marion Berry and Larry Duyck to my irrational hatred list.As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

I am a car guy, but I am NOT a NASCAR guy. Still, I loved Cars. The opening scene on the track is awesome, not because of the racing culture tie-in, though many of those were pretty funny, but because of the animation. The first time I saw it in the theater I was blown away at how well they captured the lights playing off the cars as they raced around the track.
I also am a big fan of the Route 66 nostalgia. Not because I have great ties to the southwest, but because I like to think about what those little towns you fly through on the road were like, once upon a time.
I do think that the rest of the plot of Cars was probably weaker than most of the other Pixar movies."It's devastating, because we lost to a team that's not even in the Pac-12. To lose to Utah State is horrible." - John White IV
