I've been in Japan for three weeks, and rarely have I been frustrated. I mean, the first couple of days I was stressed out quite a bit, mostly due to being tired, but since then I've been really optimistic and grateful every day. It's really going well here.
Today, though, I was getting really stressed because of the pain-in-the-butt process of trying to get my apartment rental contract finalized. I got frustrated inside for the first time in over two weeks. Rather than let the frustration simmer, though, I quickly decided to find something to read and to just let my frustration disappear naturally. I've been reading The Garden of Eden by Hemingway this week, but I left it at home today, so I couldn't read that. I thought of a poem that I love, one that would make pull me in and capture me, so I pulled up T.S. Eliot's The Waste Land and read it. It's such an amazing poem that I like to read it every now and then just to refresh my view of it. By the beginning of part II I had calmed down.
