I agree. Faith hadn't seen Casino Royale, so she had no idea what was going on in the first third of the movie. When I got home I had to get online and review the plot from Casino, to make sure I was making the right associations. They are very much companion pieces.

One of the things I liked about Casino was how realistic were the villain's motives. He had sold short stock in a company and was going to capitalize by sinking the stock value with terrorism. The idea of that is frightening because it is plausible. But damming Bolivia's underground water supply?? Give me a break.

Yes, I would have liked to seen Daniel Craig's gadget as well--but I guess they had to keep it PG-13.
What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

I liked the movie a lot but it did definitely depart from the Bond tradition, but based on the theme of the movie the departure was fine.

I think my biggest complaint is the way it was filmed in a lot of the action scenes. They went with the Bourne jump cup style and I am not a fan of that for a Bond movie.
Finally got around to seeing this tonight. This pretty much sums up my reaction. I didn't mind the plot. (overall)

And amen about the cinematography. I hate that style. That initial car chase looked pretty interesting. It's a pity we only caught a few glimpses of it.

Agreed. I groaned at that part. Completely absurd.

I didn't see Casino Royale until after I had seen QoS but I enjoyed it. It was the first Bond movie I had ever seen. Much better than what I was told they were as a youth.

You really need to see the Connery films. He's the best 007, IMO.

I like that one. Hopefully, you will too.
