  • Hardly watched a Christmas movie this year

In the days of avaliable tv stations on one hand I would annually watch things such as Rudolph the Red Nosed reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, and Santa Claus is coming to town. Rudolphs Shiny New Year recently.

A few Ernest movies and Santa Claus movies, Once upon a Christmas. I do not care for cheesy bb gun Christmas story. Now with over 100 stations available and I generally only watch news, documentaries and sports on tv almost never sitcoms or movies. I can say this year I hardly watched any christmas movies. AS for christmas Music last several years I think church is one of few places I listened to Christmas Music.

One of my favorite memories as a kid was going over to my grandmas house to watch "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" because she had a color TV and we didn't. The Christmas movies were a big deal back then.

One of the best parts of this Christmas season has been watching a Christmas show or two every night with my four year old. He sits next to me to begin with but by the time the show is over he is usually laying on me. This has been the most enjoyable Christmas season of my life. I have thoroughly enjoyed creating new traditions with our young family while continuing the existing. I am looking forward to the next few years. I think these are the most magical in the lives of children.

Seeing a glimpse of this has brought a great amount of appreciation to my parents. I grew up in a family that lacked luxury. Five kids, stay at home mom on a school teacher salary. My parents did everything imaginable to ensure that each of their children were able to enjoy that magical window as a child. I have found that I love my parents so much more today now that I better understand their sacrifices and the depth of love a parent has for their child. I always knew they loved me and I always felt like I was their favorite. Each of my siblings would say the same thing. I guess that is how you know you were blessed with great parents. And to continue on with my thread jack, this has been a very spiritual Christmas season. I realize there is so much I don't understand and so much that I will never know, but I have never felt stronger that there is a loving Father who loves me and a Savior who has atoned for me. I have no idea how but I cannot deny the feeling of peace and closeness to this power this season. Something I was not at all expecting to experience this season.

Merry Christmas to all of the good people of CUF. I consider many of you very close friends even if I have no idea what your name is in real life. My you have a wonderful day with your loved ones.

Sorry grape, you triggered something inside that I guess I needed to get out.

We watched the bb gun christmas story tonight as a family (I think TBS is playing it for 24 hours straight). It has become so of a tradition for us. I still laugh at the chinese restaurant and some other scenes.

            Merry Christmas everyone!

I feel the same way. (We all also watched "Family Man," which I hadn't seen for years, and really enjoyed it.)

CJF, excellent observations. That was a great read before I turn out the lights this Christmas Eve.

I watched parts of "Elf" and "Muppet Christmas Carol", but still haven't watched Scrooged, even though I count it as one of my favorite movies.

I normally have very little "Christmas spirit", and this year it's been even lower.

You really should include spoiler tags in a post like this one. The movie was ruined for me, ruined.

Added Home Alone and Chrismukkah from seasons 1 and 2 of the OC (the Wonder Woman scene never gets old, in case you were wondering).

Got Elf and Vacation in this weekend. :rockon2:

Finally made a go at Bad Santa since it's on Netflix instant, but wasn't really grabbing me.
