    • Well I suppose this is as good a time as any to discuss some of the updates:

      1. The spinoff has a name and some initial casting-- "Star Wars: Rogue One" is the name. Doesn't really give away much but I'm guessing it focuses on rebel pilots. Not really the most interesting bunch of SW characters, but probably the video game I'd be most interested in. When this is supposed to take place is really the crucial element here I guess.

      2. Celebration '15 (Star Wars convention that happens every 2 years) is taking place this Thursday-Saturday in Anaheim. While ton of other Star Wars news will be surfacing, I'll be watching for JJ and the gang to be screening/releasing the second teaser trailer, which I have heard shows much more than the last one, including more good guys, more bad guys (Gwendoline Christie's character), and more Millennium Falcon.

      3. The release schedule came out at some point: obviously Ep 7 is coming out December 18, 2015, then Rogue One is coming out December 2016, THEN, Episode 8 is coming out a few months later in May 2017-- seems like they're getting back to SW releases being in May, I guess. Presumably the next spinoff comes out May 2018 and then Ep 9 will wrap this trilogy in 2019.

There is a whole IMAX scene involving the aforementioned mysterious cargo freighter.

              • Awesome trailer, indeed. During the panel this morning, they brought out BB-8, the "soccer ball" droid. That thing is fully functional and is not cgi, much to most everyone's surprise. It's pretty cool.

Awesome shot of the new storm troopers:

A star destroyer run aground? AWESOME.

A dogfight INSIDE the star destroyer run aground? Even better!

A rogue TIE blowing the shit out of a hangar crew of stormtroopers?

                Probably my favorite shot:

A new force sensitive heavy? You be the judge:

                Luke and jedi's best friend:

A closing shot of our favorite pair of geriatric scoundrels!

                  • My kids had an old nintendo game called Rogue Squadron. And I know there was a series of Star Wars books revolving around Rogue Squadron - I have a friend who is a serious Star Wars geek and owns them all. Wonder how much, if anything, the movie has to do with that. I think the setting of the series is after Return of the Jedi - so it kind of fits the timelines.

Are you referring to Rogue One?

Harrison ford looks like he was cast in the role of Palpatine. Otherwise, no, pretty sweet.

The Aryan Brotherhood seems to have come to terms with a black man in a lead role. I'm nervous to see what happens when they find out Gwendoline Christie is a the metallic, caped, storm trooper captain under that helmet.
