Lucas is a visionary and the architect, but the only reason he did the original trilogy visually correct is because 1. he was on a budget and 2. the technology to mess up the look of the movies didn't yet exist."I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch! I'm pretty curious about what Lucas's plans for the next installment were. Too bad we'll never find out.Originally posted by Commando View PostLucas is a visionary and the architect, but the only reason he did the original trilogy visually correct is because 1. he was on a budget and 2. the technology to mess up the look of the movies didn't yet exist. Not that, sickos.

You mean for this trilogy? It was going to deal with the Solo/Skywalker offspring, along the lines of the EU stories. Lucas said he wanted to do the first one and then bow out, but his wife got pregnant and Disney came with the offer sheet at the right time. Lucas' concepts and stories were included in the SW property in the sale, of course. Disney said "Great! No thanks, though!" It was just a little too obvious and on-the-nose for any compelling writing to happen is my guess. From what I know about these sequels, I really like what they've done and where they're taking it.Originally posted by thesaint258 View PostI'm pretty curious about what Lucas's plans for the next installment were. So it looks like Disney is blowing up Star Wars so that the supply actually meets the demand. After watching Universal Studios' Harry Potter Land coup, they strike back with their own plans for world domination:

It will feature two full-scale attractions- one supposedly piloting the millennium falcon and the other an interactive ride that they are keeping wraps on b/c it probably involves stuff from the new movies. Reportedly, it'll be on 14 acres and will sit where Mickey's Toon Town currently sits along with some other real estate around that region. Along with this announcement was news that they will update Star Tours with 5 new destinations/outcomes related to the new trilogy, along with a special Star Wars themed event in the spring that will convert current attractions to Star Wars attractions, most notably Space Mountain will become Hyperspace Mountain, with Star Wars themed visuals, Music, Sound FX, etc..

This is pretty cool, and by the way probably the closest look at the new JJ- produced Star Wars world we've had yet. It's basically a 30 second speeder ride on rails on the planet Jakku through some old Imperial wreckage with 360 degree swivel view access.

As I previously noted over in the video game thread, I played the Star Wars: Battlefront beta that was out last week, along with 9 million other people. What a great game. Not being a FPS savant, I was a bigger fan of the Rogue Squadron game on game cube and could still just sit and play that for days if I had to, but this is a FPS where the graphics and content are just so cool to take in. I guess they had full access to Lucasfilm soundbits, props, clips, etc. and visited the original set locations for Tattooine, Hoth, and Endor in order to capture ambient sound, lighting, and visuals. It's times like this when I'm glad that the SW franchise is so popular that it can support a gargantuan effort like this to put forth such high quality content.
Also, the trailer for The Force Awakens is going to hit during Monday Night Football.
