I had a friend who worked as some kind of asst. grip or something on movies several years ago. He constantly said he was shocked by a couple things: 1) How small all the dudes are in Hollywood. My buddy is 6'3" and played basketball in college. He said on movie sets he felt like Goliath. 2) How shockingly beautiful most of the actresses were in person, especially in normal (non-shoot days) make-up. He was most surprised by Nicole Kidman, he claimed she was jaw-droppingly gorgeous up close.

I think she is what is considered to be a "classic beauty"; which means that if the film is black and white and she wears a long dress that accentuates her curves and sports long wavy hair that if she were to die early Elton John would write a song about her.

No, I've seen some actresses up close in person. The biggest difference is their skin and hair-- waaay lustrous and healthy and no scars. They pay a lot of money for maintenance and it shows.

I was standing in back of the actress while waiting for the valet at a restaurant in La Jolla. She was less than 12 inches away. I didn't know who she was, since I'd only seen the back of her hair and her neck and arms. I noticed what great skin she had, and how healthy her hair was. I still didn't know who she was. Then I looked at her date, and recognized him. As she got in the car, I recognized her. I remember thinking, "Boy how different the other half lives." I'll not one up you by identifying her.

I'm sure she wouldn't have been as glamorous looking had she not been out to dinner.
