  • Entertainment Weekly top 25 Cult shows

Entertainment Weekly lists their top 25 cult favorite shows from the past 25 years. Doctor Who was the cover so it is the honorary champion, but here are some notables:

    1. Buffy the Vampire Slayer - watched it from Day 1 and loved it. The follow up show Angel, was also solid.

    2. Arrested Development - anything need to be said about it?

    3. Mystery Science Theater 3000 - its like watching bad movies with your friends. Your funny friends, not your stupid friends.

    4. X-Files - never got into it.

    5. The Wire

    Other notables

    6. Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia - always inappropriate and almost always super duper funny.

    11. Firefly - genius and creative.

    13. Veronica Mars - my love of Ms. Bell is well documented.

    17. Fringe - still the best show on television.

    23. Better off Ted - very underrated, similar to style of Arrested Development.

I expected you to bring your sexiness to the favorite TV characters thread.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

What genre is Fringe (I would guess Sci Fi, from the name). I know nothing about his show, but have enjoyed your previous recommendations (Justified).

It is Sci Fi. It's an awesome show. The writers didn't have a clear goal in mind with the first season, so that season almost seems like a throw away. After that, though, fantastic.

If the list doesn't have Get a Life, it is crap.

Thanks for the link. Was Freaks and Geeks really not on the list, or did you not find it notable? Either way, unacceptable.

I've been watching Better Off Ted, and despite it being in the same vein as Arrested Development, I really like it. Hooray for Netflix!
              Not that, sickos.

I read the article when it came out a couple weeks ago and am trying to remember. I think they listed Undeclared and mentioned Freaks and Geeks in there with it.

There was also some weird deal with The Wire where even though they typically list it as arguably the best drama ever, it was lower on this particular list because it doesn't have the same cultiness factor as some of the others.

There was no link! You can't hold me accountable when I can't find it...it is in the paper copy.

Yes, Undeclared was listed and they mentioned Freaks and Geeks and how fabulous it was and then didn't list it. No idea why.
