I think this sentiment is kind of tired. I know I'm stealing from David Foster-Wallace here, but Hollywood (at least in the sense of most mainstream, commercial Hollywood) has to satisfy the public in order to make $$$. If that public was more receptive to creative expressions, stuff coming out of Hollywood would look different. Must be part of a larger reboot. Today's kids have no idea about Gordon Shumway and have likely never seen an episode. I wonder if they are going to use the exact same puppet/costume?Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

They're hardly out of ideas. That will only come once they do a movie remake of Designing Women.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”Comment

I get that thinking as it applies to remakes, but at the same time, there are a lot of great stories out there that could be told, even if you're just adapting them from books. I'd rather see something like that than another remake.
