I got dragged to this last night. The movie was visually spectacular and Robert Downey Jr. was great, but the movie just drags on. A lot of action and little plot. Plus it was essentially the same movie as the first Sherlock Holmes movie. It wasn't a sequel, it was a rehash. Two thumbs down.

2 thumbs down? A little harsh. Excellent escapism cinema. Guy Richie is awesome, but I usually have to watch his movies multiple times to understand wtf is going on. Great action and comedic moments as well. +1. The first had a distinctive plot. There was a point. This one jumped all over the place. I almost fell asleep but I liked the ending.
Mission impossible 4 was much more watchable.Comment

Thanks for the warning. I fell asleep both times I tried to watch the first one. I like Guy Ritchie, but this is a studio film, not Snatch.

FTR, i never made it through the first one, either. I made it through this one. I saw this movie on Saturday.
Like the first, it did run a little long, but didn't think it was a bad as the first in that regard.
I loved it. Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law are both excellent.
Admittedly, this is my kind of movie. Good humor; great action; excellent acting. It's hard to go wrong there.Jesus wants me for a sunbeam.

I'm late to this party, but thankfully I didn't spend the money to see this one in the theater. We rented this from Redbox and I fell asleep about 30 minutes into. I decided to keep the movie a couple more nights (actually I was just too lazy to return it right away) so I gave it another try. One the second attempt I had to get up and walk around the room to stay awake. This movie sucked, for the most part. There was some great dialogue, but I still have no idea how everything ties together, and frankly I don't have the desire to watch it 4 more times to find out.
It's too bad this one was so boring as this could be a great franchise if done right.
Oh, and what was up with the slomo scene running through the woods
That was seriously lame and cheezy at the same time.

We watched a few weeks ago on PPV as well. First night we both fell asleep about 15 min in. I figured it was due to a long day and little sleep the previous few nights.
