  • Pandora question

    So I've got a Pandora station going that's going pretty well, but it's doing something weird.

    So let's say I have four different kind of categories of music all put together inside this station.

    A = classic rock
    B = 80's alt
    C = 80's pop
    D = 90's and newer alt/rock

    It seems like instead of going random through these categories it will get stuck on one until I hit a thumbs down and then it will reset and go random again.

    ie I would like it to go ACBDBACCDACBACDA
    but it goes like this
    CCC (thumbs down) BBBB (thumbs down) AAA

    i've only used pandora a handful of times since grooveshark/spotify emerged, but I used to use it a ton. And while I don't know the answer to your specific question, I do know that no matter what station I had on, Fake Plastic Trees got played more than any other song.

    I'm exaggerating, but yeah I don't think Pandora's random selection is so random.

      Lou Reed Walk on the Wild Side comes up about every two hours for me, though I've never given it a thumbs up, and of the variety I've defined, it's only similar to about 20% of it.

        I don't know why, but I still listen to Pandora regularly.

        A song came up just now. I'm thinking that's a cool song. I'll give it a thumbs up. Modest Mouse -- One Chance. I look and see that I've already given it a thumbs up. Which seems odd because I don't ever remember hearing this song before. It must have been at least 100 hours of listening between the last time it was played.

        Meanwhile RHCP Californication comes up nearly once an hour, and I've never thumbs upped it or any other RHCP song.
