    DirecTV to drop FX and FSN on November 1

    Not sure if this has been posted (haven't seen it). This includes FX, NatGeo, FSN regional networks, Speed, Fuel, Fox Sports, Fox Movie Channel and Fox Soccer. Maybe some others

    Apparently Fox is asking DTV to pay what other cable and satellite companies are paying for many Fox channels. DTV claims that represents a 40% increase.

    Edit: The title should probably read Fox to pull FX and FSN from DirecTV. Apparently Fox is driving this, like they did last year with Dish.

      So is Root Sports part of the Fox Sports family or not? If not then I'm not worried about it, if so then this is lame.

        This article doesn't say that it will definitely happen. Only that a threat to do so has been made.

          They followed through on the threat last year on Dish. I didn't have FX and, perhaps FSN (I can't recall because FsN rarely had anything I cared about watching) for about a month or so last year.
          Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

            No it's not, it's affiliated with FSN for programming, but not owned by Fox Sports whatsoever. Rejoice that Root Sports Utah/RM will be staying even though you won't need it besides a couple Ute football games.

              The contract actually expires at the end of the year. Fox is starting the campaigning now so that come the end of the year they are not dropped.

              I don't really care although I do enjoy The League on FX and Border Wars on Nat Geo.

                Nice to see them come to an agreement today. I was never too worried, but not having Fox Soccer for the RSL match would've sucked.

                            i am sure they will work something out. It was pretty funny as DTV had a streaming banner at the bottom of the channel saying viacom wanted 1 billion more dollars and was pulling the channels and viacom had one right above it saying it wouldn't effect my bill at all and DTV is choosing to drop the channels.
