Skip WhatserfaceBurgers and hit Braum's instead. We don't have them in Austin, so I always stop in Hillsboro or Denton when I head back to Oklahoma.

Stop at Pappas Bros Steakhouse, it's something you might enjoy.

Good advice. Braum's > Whataburger. Fortunately, there is a Braum's about a mile away from my house. Perhaps that explains why I've lived in DFW for almost 30 years after graduating from BYU.

          Because of a hamburger chain?

As I clicked on this, I just noticed the Dude's remark. You stay in Dallas due to a hamburger chain? You need to get a life, dudette.

Braums ice cream is great. Unless their stores are new, they’re usually filthy. I’m not a germaphobe, but it’s tough to enjoy a delicious burger and crinkle cut fries when your clothing adheres to everything it touches.

I was at SMU for a week earlier this summer, and I was a little disappointed in Dallas’s restaurant game overall. I had a blank check for meals and ended up at franchises about 1/2 the time.

You're not wrong. A colleague and I went to what was supposedly the #1 new restaurant in Dallas last year during a CLE. The food and service were so bad that we ended up laughing hysterically through the entire dinner and going to fast food (read: Braum's) afterward.

What was the supposedly #1 new restaurant in Dallas, BTW?

All the food in and around SMU is cheap college kid crap (i.e., pizzas, chicken, and such).... Although there are some good tacos down on Greenville. If you had a blank check, man, you should have headed to Abucus, The French Room, Fearing's, Wolfgang Puck's, Dakota's, St. Germain, The Mansion, or Nick's and Sam's. (Of course, most of these places you are required to wear a jacket.) You brew it!

Yeah, good call... Braum's is much better.

They also sell excellent diary products and produce. Perhaps that explains why my company's HQ is in Dallas.

"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. Any recommendations on where to stay? I fly into Love this evening. Deposition is tomorrow morning on the LBJ Freeway near the interchange with I-40. That seems like an industrial area where I don't really want to stay (or am I wrong about that?) Any recommendations on the area of town should I stay tonight that will leave me a less-than 30 min commute to my depo tomorrow morning during rush hour?

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body.
