I have never heard of the place until I saw the billboard...

It is in a bad part of town but might be worth a try.

      D Magazine's 100 best restaurants in Dallas....

      http://www3.dmagazine.com/content/10...nts-in-dallas/

I am not sure I agree with all the recommendations but it has a nice web page that makes it easy to figure out where these places are.

Using this list of the best BBQ in Dallas as a guide:

        http://www.dmagazine.com/Home/D_Maga...in_Dallas.aspx

we went to the #1 place on the list last week to check it out. I was soooo excited. I ordered the rib and brisket combo:

MAJOR disappointment. Very nice Texas-style oak flavor, but both the ribs and the brisket were dry as a bone, as you can see in the photo. Grrr... I can make BBQ that good with my eyes closed.

My wife ordered the smoked chicken sandwich. They just threw a 1/4 chicken on a bun:

Seriously? You can't debone the thing for us? Once again, the flavor was good, but very dry.

Sides were good. My son ordered the sausage and it was the best part of the meal. Maybe we caught them at a bad time, but there is no way this is the best BBQ place in Dallas. Hell, there is a Rudy's in Dallas and they are head and shoulders better than this.

The best BBQ place in Dallas is the Pecan Lodge at the Farmers Market. The list you are going off is so 2010 and I am not sure if half the places on the list you found even exist anymore or have the same owner. Stick with Uncle Ted's BBQ list and you'll be fine.

First time I saw that was in Argentina. They seemed to put egg on everything.

Apparently the Mac and Cheese at Pecan Lodge is pretty good according to the reviews...

I took a trip out to the Bishop Arts district and visited Lockhart Smokehouse...

                          http://www.lockhartsmokehouse.com

very good brisket and ribs. The sides are OK. Big Red on tap. Lockhart's BBQ is still some of the better in Dallas.

While in the area be sure to stop and get some pie at Emporium Pies... It is just a short walk up the street from Lockhart.

Who are our CSers from DFW? I'm likely headed there for a deposition next month. Of course i'll be eating at Whataboutwhatataburger, but I'm hoping i'll also be able to squeeze in a dinner w local CSers?
