So AMC is following up its drug-dealing and zombie successes with a contemporary western centered around the Union Pacific's construction of the transcontinental railroad.

I'm not much of a western connoisseur, but I liked True Grit enough, and i've heard Deadwood was excellent. Based on AMC's track record, I may just have to give this one a shot.

Thanks for mentioning this. Stephen Ambrose's Nothing Like it in the World is a great book about the building of the transcontinental railroad, including an interesting presentation about "Hell on Wheels" (a rolling mini-city of bars and bordellos that followed the construction crews west across the plains). Should be an entertaining show.

The premiere was ok... We thought Sunday's episode was much better and more intriguing. We will definitely be watching next Sunday.

I agree, 2nd episode was much better than the first. Still not totally sold, but I'll keep watching for now.

I feel the same way, was disappointed after the 1st episode, the 2nd episode was much better. Will keep watching.

I'm keeping it on my dvr schedule. I liked the second episode better than the first but obviously liked the first enough to have watched the second. I couldn't shake the feeling that I'd seen it all before. Dances With Wolves, Far and Away, Glory and every revenge movie ever made. But now that we're getting to know people better it's becoming more interesting.

This show was good. I thought Common did a great job and I am glad that it will be returning next year for a second season. Not sure where they are going to go from here though.

Common was great, as were Mount and McElligott (Lily Bell). I can take or leave Colm Meany. The plot was interesting (who doesn't like a great revenge story?) and the characters were memorable and realistically flawed. LIke you, i'm interested to see where it goes from here.

Reading through the Walking Dead thread made me want to bump this thread again.

Season 2 wrapped a few weeks ago and was far better than the first season. I've really enjoyed the writing and acting for this series. Much like Walking Dead, they aren't afraid to knock of big characters to move the story line forward.

Some major plot twists in season 2 should make for a very interesting start to season 3.

Did anyone else watch HOW season 2?
