Kids in general these days seem more socially retarded...

None of them date. They hang out. They text. They sit in the same car or room and don't say a word...they text. Then, they go home and whack off to internet porn.

I think that's the sad truth about why these kids are retards.

Watched this over the weekend. Fascinating story.

My only gripe (and it is a minor one), is that I think they were a bit overly sympathetic to her in the beginning of the film. In the second half of the film, you begin to get a real sense of what a complete nutjob she is. Then again, maybe that is by design. As an LDS viewer, it is easy to see right off that she is a pathological liar, but I suppose your average viewer might think "Wow, that poor young lady was just trying to save him from that dangerous cult". Then they pull back the curtain a bit in the second half and you realized you have been conned.

        Highly recommended.

That was my complaint as well. The first part of the film took some shots at the LDS church with Joyce's "I just wanted to rescue him from this terrible cult where he was obviously brainwashed because he left me". Then had the overview of "weird" LDS theology with clips from the Godmakers (at least I think that's where they came from). Also, had the interview with the gay activist RM who was farily accurate but still had a biased angle.

At that point, I wish they would have had an interview with someone giving the LDS side of the story - at least portraying a more accurate LDS theological perspective. Then the film proceed to detail how weird Joyce M. was and the viewer forgets how weird the LDS church was depicted at the beginning of the film.

One takeaway I had was that the London tabloid "journalists" didn't know that much about the LDS church, LDS theology, or the LDS missionary program (they equated missionaries to Priests) but they knew plenty about Joyce M. Another takeaway was that Joyce was a lot more knowledgeable about LDS beliefs and theology than she let on and deliberately used archaic anti-Mormon positions to slander what she constructed as her enemy. It wasn't that she was rejected by her eternal love, she was rejected because the Mormons "interfered" or brainwashed her man against her and because she wasn't Mormon enough for his family.
